It was the lack of justice and equity that had me feeling inadequate towards a civil order charged with rigid social and behavioural patterns that I found in small pockets of established power in the rural interior of our country – despite the fact that, at the time, 20 years had passed since the 25th of April (Freedom Day); recognising myself too little at the root, to quote a verse by Ana Goês, I would have to struggle so that my daughters – and my son! – would not have to live under the weight of this social inheritance, which impelled me to never give up in the exploration of universes for women, giving a voice to female authors: writers and poets, the silenced voices. And also to bring to light words by authors who, themselves, fought and continue to fight misogyny and social discrimination against women, without ever submitting ideas to ideologies, literature to pamphlets.
