COOKING LANDSCAPES, OU A CRIAÇÃO DE COMUNIDADES EFÉMERAS COMO ACTO DE RESISTÊNCIA

Uma mulher que queira criar na cozinha tem que ter o seu próprio restaurante; raramente será o braço direito de um chef reconhecido, dificilmente será a chef executiva. Não. A mulher será, na melhor das hipóteses, uma pessoa muito importante na cozinha e cujo apoio dado é imprescindível; no entanto, a sua capacidade de liderança é raramente referida; se for muito assertiva, será considerada emasculada, e, se reagir, em desconformidade com uma ideia de contenção e discrição. Em Cooking Landscapes, propor uma colaboração a duas mulheres que lutaram muito para ter o seu próprio restaurante e a sua própria cozinha foi um desafio que activou a discussão sobre o esforço, a luta para gerir um restaurante, a falta de tempo para pensar fora do contexto diário, a pressão sobre a constante necessidade de empreender, o capitalismo neoliberal no seu melhor. A performance colectiva é, na perspetiva deste projeto, um lugar-comum nas diferenças, activadas, trabalhadas e partilhadas. Não escolhemos o feminismo ou a cozinha ou a performance como temas, mas sim o que reverberou em cada uma das participantes das conversas que foram partilhadas por todas naquele encontro em torno da importância da interseccionalidade dos temas. Não decidimos um tema, uma direcção, decidimos apenas individual e colectivamente um tempo, um lugar, e uma ou várias acções.

A woman that wants to create in a kitchen, needs to have their own restaurant; rarely will it be the right wing of a renowned chef, and will hardly be the executive chef. No. The woman will be, in the best of chance, a very important person in a kitchen to which her given help is essential; In the meantime, her ability to lead is rarely mentioned. If she is very assertive, she will be considered emasculated, she reacts, in non-conformity with the idea of containment and description. In Cooking Landscapes, it opens a collaboration between two women that fought hard to have their own restaurant and their own kitchen, it was a fight that opened the gates to a discussion between effort, the fight that is to manage a restaurant, the lack of time to think outside of the daily context box, the constant need to undertake responsibilities, the neoliberal capitalism at it’s best. The collective performance is, in the perspective of this project, a common ground in the different, activated, worked and shared ideas. We did not choose the feminist, or the kitchen, or the performance as themes, but what reverbed inside of each one of us participants, of that talk that was shared by all of us, around these themes. We didn’t decide on a theme, a direction, we decided individually and collectively a time, a place, and or diverse actions.
